Experimenting with Outsourcing

calendar January 26, 2008

One of my visions for 2008 is to build a ton of affiliate sites.  I would like to create 3 or 4 a month if possible.  But I don’t want to just throw up a site and not promote it properly or fail to develop any back-links.  Instead I have outlined a multiple step promotion strategy for each one based on the techniques I learned in the Lazy Affiliate.

But to accomplish the task of building a site with some search engine presence I am going to need some help.  Thus I have decided to try using GetAFreelancer.com to outsource some of the tasks.  Initially I will use them for things like bulk content, link building, directory submission, etc.  These types of things take forever to do, and there is no sense devoting my time to them only to find out later that a product or site doesn’t convert.

Cool (and free) Keyword Tool

calendar January 16, 2008

One of the most simple concepts for successful affiliate marketing is to find keywords with high search volume and low competition.  This is the foundation of Bum Marketing and Niche Marketing principles.  Of course the only downside is that it takes a significant time investment to do this.

I found a free tool today on http://www.benjaminmaker.com/that helps streamline this process.  He calls it “GTrends Made Easy” and it is a free software app that calculates both the Google search volume and number of page results for a specific word.  You do have to supply your own list, but you can make this pretty easily with Google’s keyword tool.

Definitely check it out if you spend as much time as I do staring at keyword possibilities.

Super Affiliate eBook

There are probably quite a few newbie affiliate marketers out there like me…you have tackled the introductory steps to making money online, but you are having trouble getting to the next level.

You’ve tried and succeeded at some level with bum marketing, SEO, and maybe even building traffic.  The problem is the whole process feels like you are running in place.  You keep doing things that have worked before, but for some reason the results haven’t multiplied.

This is exactly how I feel…but I’ve got to tell you why I am excited for 2008.

Over the holidays I bought an ebook, which is something I swore I would never do.  The sales page connected with me from the start and I simply couldn’t control my curiosity.  I was prepared to throw $30 out the window and laugh at my gullibility…but instead I was floored.

The book is Confessions of a Lazy Super Affiliate and I highly recommend it for anyone who has found some small scale success online but strives to get to the next level.

The sales page alone has more solid strategies in it than most of the guru blogs and forums.

Well worth $30.  I think I have read it over five times and I just launched my latest site following the guidelines.  The techniques are built for long term success, so I don’t have a million dollar check to show you today, but I will be updating you on the results.

Revenue Report for December

calendar January 2, 2008

I wasn’t sure what level of expectation to have going into December.  While we all know that online shopping increases for the holidays, very few of the products I promote would be considered gifts or holiday-related.

As it turns out, December was relatively steady with the exception of the 24th through the 28th, which were pathetic.  This doesn’t really surprise me, but it always stings to wake up and read your sales reports on these types of days.

I am excited for the first quarter of 2008.  I have heard that traffic picks up this time of year due to people being stuck inside, so I am hopeful it will lead to more sales!

Here are the stats for December…

$1190.94 in Sales
- 141.51 in Expenses
= $1049.43 in Net Revenue

$1049 / 30 Days in November = $33.85 Average Profit Per Day

This is a small increase from November, but nothing to get excited about.  I have my work cut out for me to reach $200 a day by summer.

Don’t worry though…I have some aces up my sleeve :)

First Affiliate Project for 2008

Affiliate Project

After finding only limited success with building multiple sites across different offers and niches, I have decided to tighten my focus for 2008.  I am no longer going to simply choose an offer, build a site, and promote it for a few weeks.  This strategy has not increased my income very fast, and I am starting to realize that you really need to saturate a niche in order to succeed.

Ironically enough, the first affiliate website/project that I built has been my most successful.  After reading insights from the different guru
