My Strategy for Internet Success

calendar October 10, 2007

I just completed the first week of my “strategy for success”.  I am trying to balance my work flow better so that I can be more efficient and spread my efforts across more sites.  The long-term goal of this new strategy is to develop several consistent streams of income while building a formula that can be applied to new projects.

My strategy for success serves two main purposes…

First, it makes sure that all of my sites get at least some content and promotional updates each month.  I have weighted the schedule so that my primary money sites receive twice as much attention as my secondary sites.  This is still a significant upgrade for my secondary projects.  In the past I only updated them when it was convenient, which was not very often.

The second benefit of following this strategy is staying organized.  It is too easy to lose track of the updates and promotional methods you have tried across several different sites.  Now I have a monthly checklist that will make sure that all of my projects receive a consistent flow of both content and promotion.

I have also allowed plenty of time each month to work on new projects.  I would like to develop a new affiliate website every month from here on out.  I know that this will eventually lead to too many sites for one person to manage, but I have a plan for that as well.

Sometime in the first quarter of 2008 I am going to measure the performance of all my projects side-by-side.  From there I will focus on the winners and begin to phase out the losers.  The timing of this deadline will have given me about 3 months to analyze the potency of my success strategy.  Hopefully I will find that a few sites have grown into reliable revenue streams.  The winners will then become the focus of my efforts, while the losers will likely end up for sale on the DigitalPoint forums.  Once I drop the dead weight I will continue with the strategy, but instead of wasting time with the loser sites, I will spend those efforts on new projects.

Sounds good on paper doesn’t it?  Of course the x-factor lies within the success strategy formula.  I have based it all on what worked for my most profitable website.  But even though I was successful in that venture, it doesn’t mean the tactics are transferable.  It all remains to be seen, but if my instincts are right, then I should see significant income growth for 2008.
