How I Got Into Internet Marketing (Part 1)
When I left this blog in February, I did so because my outlook on the internet changed. I started my internet journey by investing in domain names. While I definitely believe in the value of a good domain name, investing in them was not a good fit for me. Not only does it get expensive after a while, but it can be difficult to market the two and three word domains that are most available.
Domaining did however lead me to the next phase of my online income development. While I read the domain forums, I kept noticing how other domainers were choosing to develop their names into websites to build more revenue. With my parked domains making only pennies a day, it became obvious to me that there was a faster way to make money online than buying domain names. I continued to research the different options and soon learned about Google AdSense. More specifically, making websites was the simple goal of making money from AdSense ads. It seemed like a great idea, and I jumped in right away.
The good news was that I had plenty of domains to choose from. The bad news was that I didn’t know anything about website production. But after reading thousands of blogs and forum posts I got enough of the basics down to get started. I purchased an HTML editor called XSitePro, which was designed specifically for rebuilding revenue sites, and I opened a hosting account at Host Gator after reading tons of reviews on hosting companies. Once these things were in place I was ready to go. I made my first five AdSense sites in about 2 weeks, and I waited for the revenue to pour in. Only one problem…the revenue never materialized.
